When we say ‘video games’ it could mean anything from the dedicated gaming consoles like play station, and the XBOX, to computer games for PCs. When you have a dedicated gaming console, then you need to buy CDs made especially for them by the manufacturer. The Sony play station series and the Microsoft XBOX have revolutionized the quality of gaming devices since their appearance a few years ago. Unlike the older 8 bit or 16 bit video games (TV game) machines that used specially designed cartridges, the newer ones have games written on standard format CDs (which also enables the consoles to play audio and video CDs). This makes them a somewhat easier target for piracy, but be warned, if you buy pirated CDs, you WILL get the quality that you pay for. Not only got your game ‘hang’ at frustrating durations, you run the risk of seriously damaging the sensitive lens in the machine.

Some of the computer games allow players to interact with each other in multi player mode , online! Which means you could hunt down the terrorists with the help of your buddy 2000 miles away! This (in complicated games like Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon) requires the user(s) to log into an online server dedicated to the purpose. It brings a new meaning to simulation when you play with ‘real’ people on your team/against you, online. It removes the predictability that comes with playing a machine, where you can begin to analyze the opponents’ moves once you’ve played a few dozen times over!

You can download loads of free video games on www.arcadetown.com where they regularly update their library as well. But, for the ultimate in gaming experiences you will need to buy the original CDs. In today’s world its not just young teenagers that are crazy about computer games, many an adult hungrily goes through the various levels of games such as ‘Armored Fist’ and ‘Flight Simulator’. The mesmerizing addiction these games offer with their stunning graphics and sound effects can only be experienced when you play them yourself! If you are on of those people who want to go on a ‘gaming binge’ over the weekend, and know you wont have the time for them later, you could think of renting a game for a couple of days rather than buying an expensive one. You could check out www.gamefly.com, with popular games like Tomb Raider on the home page – over 4000 titles to choose from, and growing!

The site offers an easy four-step process – pick a game, it gets delivered to your house, send it back whenever you want (NO LATE FEES!) and pick another one! A good web site for gaming consoles.
