NEC 1300A Firmware 105v11 is out! hehe - I have not yet flashed the original firmware upgrade to 106 - herrie's hack is sufficient...

And it seems as if herrie advances past the simple "switch new DVD media free"-stage to really improving the software over the original (if you check the Bios-detection feature e.g.). I will definately give it a try soon - now check the features...
Release v11 (1.05)
Changed writing strategy for many 2x media to get better results:) (There was a minor mistake in v10, which caused discs not to be written in the most optimized way)
Added support for the following media:
* DVD-R 4.7-01 (2x)
Solved problems with:
* 'Drive in use by another application'
* 'Blue screens on startup'
* 'Drive not being recognised by Windows'
* 'Drive detection errors in the BIOS'
SMMR01 (Should finally work now, I made a small mistake in v10 again)

I've been experiencing prblems with a range of x4 DVDr's on my NEC ND-1300A drive it's useful to find the firmware updates
But unfortunately my choosen platform is Macintosh no one seems to be supporting a firmware upgrade for these machines. Can't even find any relative information on the official NEC websites.
Can anyone help...??

Posted by dubidu at December 17, 2003 08:53 PMHi folks,
please checkout the new release by Herrie which is based on the original v106 to v108 versions...
Beware of flashing them on already hacked Biosses, I fear that's a dead-end flash - and didn't test it myself so far.
However Herrie also has a new portal at http://www.herrie.org/index.php
happy new year,
Christoph
